Commit to the Calling

Updated: Nov 13

What does your personal time with God consist of? Are you dedicating time each day or are you squeezing time in between your busy week? When there is time spent with Him are you locked in or distracted by the things around you? Can you think about the last time you prayed and your mind did not wander to thoughts of other things? Now you don’t have to answer these questions out loud but you do have to be truthful with yourself.

Let’s be clear to know that even if we were to withhold information from others or lie to ourselves, we could never deceive our God. He knows our thoughts better than we do. So it would be in our best interest to be truthful now before it’s too late. And if you’re wondering when can you check in with God, 2 Corinthians 6:2 tells us, “Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation.”Unlike Chick-fil-A, salvation is available at any time, especially Sundays! Saints, we are telling you in that one-on-one time with God the relationship that develops helps to carry you throughout all of your days. Just look at your church’s senior members. Some of our oldest saints are not only the wisest but have some of the sharpest minds. That could only be God given through years of personal, quality time with the Father.

Now I know you’re probably wondering, “when do I have time to develop this relationship? I already have so much on my plate?” To be completely honest: we don’t know when you can find time our what time would be best for you. BUT may we make a suggestion? Try giving God time early in the morning. You may be saying to yourself, “But I already wake up at 6AM to get my day started.” Then get up at 5AM, friend! I know it may seem like a tall ask but let’s take something into consideration: when we are needing God to answer our prayers does He tell us He doesn’t feel like it right now? If we cry out to Him in the midnight hour does he tell us to wait until He wakes up in the morning? We don’t want to guilt trip you but we do want to change your mindset.

And you know what’s extra special about an early morning time with God? The peace that comes with it. No one is calling your name, there’s no notifications on your phone and you’re able to hear God clearly. Try Him. He’s never let you outdo Him when it comes to the ability to be giving. While you do give up an hour of sleep your whole day benefits greatly with first starting with God. Problems don’t seem as big, peace radiates in your soul and you have answers to questions that have been on your mind. Our God is good! Even if you are at work early in the morning then we know that you can devote your evenings to God. Don’t be shy! If you’re trying to figure out how to balance everything, may we suggest prioritizing prayer and asking God for the rest? God is time because He created time and He will make sure His children have enough time to complete their tasks.

This month at the Zephaniah Movement’s Wednesday bible study we spent the whole month talking about the power of prayer. It was such a blessing to our souls and we’re excited that our online and overseas family now have access to our bible study via The Zephaniah Movement App. The app can be downloaded on Google Play and Apple app stores.

Dear Reader, we would like to leave you with a prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the time we get to spend with You! Whether it’s early in the morning or late at night, we can’t go a day without giving You honor and praise! Father, I thank You for this reader and their hearts being so opened unto You. Bless them for their desire to soak up every ounce of Your love. Thank You for gathering Your children around the world. We are the remnant and we look forward to rejoicing in heaven with our Father one day! In the mighty name of Jesus! Amen.
