The Power of Persistence

Do you find it easy to be persistent in your walk with God? There are so many things to distract us from the things of God. There is always a notification, alert, or update looking to take our eyes off God but we have to remain persistent in our pursuit of God. When we forget to pay a bill, the company is persistent in chasing us down. When we have had a long day without food, we are in hot pursuit for a meal. We encourage everyone to have that same fervency for God and His word.

But what do we do when we don’t know how to keep up? How do we pursue God when you don’t know which way to turn? When the enemy has done his best to make everything turn everything upside down. What then? First, take a moment to breathe. The enemy wants to believe you are choking and that causes panic. And if the enemy can have you panic, he can cause pain. After breathing, call on the name of God; call on Jesus. Don’t be afraid to sound silly. There is power in those names. (John 14:13-14) Also remember that if the enemy can overwhelm you then he can distract you from the truth. Satan is nothing but a lie and the truth isn’t in him. The first lie being that you will not overcome your situation. 1 John 4:4 says, “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” So it’s imperative for us to realize the power within us since the enemy recognizes it and will not hesitate to keep us downtrodden.

How does he keep us downtrodden? By his ability to be persistent. Don’t be fooled: the enemy can be persistent even when he knows that he cannot win against a child of God. He will keep bringing negativity, lies and false manifestations hoping to keep you from God's peace. We cannot allow the enemy to overtake us when he starts with the lies. We are not victims. Stand and fight. For a child of God, success is already set up for us. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Stand on the victory. Seek it with your whole heart and don’t bow to the enemy. And the most important thing is to be firm in your consistency. In the first chapter of the book of James it reminds us to count it all joy when we come to hard times because the push against our faith produces endurance and we need endurance as we continue this work in Christ. The enemy may try us but we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who strengthens us.

Dear Reader, we would like to leave you with a prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for our brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe. We look toward You for all of our concerns. The  enemy looks to overwhelm us with worry but we stand firm in our belief that You have already defeated the enemy. Let every lie that the enemy brings us, whether mental, physical, or spiritual, be cursed and sent to hell where it belongs. We bring to each reader a sense of Your peace and joy. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
