I am my Father’s child

There are many titles given and positions held in the body of Christ. There are so many working parts, missions, and ministries that it is only right that order is established at church. If we take a look we can see that the body of Christ is made up of many people of different races, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status. In this mixture of diversity, unchecked emotions and thoughts could potentially be a recipe for chaos within the church and even within ourselves. We’ve seen countless times where hurtful words and actions in the church have driven away lost souls. We’ve also seen where spirit filled people fall into temptations of this world and start to lead the people astray.

Perilous and trying times are ahead of us so we want to remind everyone to not be distracted by the things of this world but prepare yourself. The world wants you to become hardened and self-serving as the days pass by but we encourage you to fight the good fight of faith! The enemy can

be such a trickster and he may try to push you off-center of your faith but to help you keep focused we implore you to remember who you are AND who you belong to. 1 John 3:1 states, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” Our dear reader, you have a home, you have a lineage, and you are not alone. In this day and age we have to keep at the forefront of our minds, “I am my Father’s child!”

Knowing that you are a child of the most high God is a sense of assurance others will never understand. To that, we also say knowing that God is our Father is the ultimate sense of security we could ever experience as well. There are benefits after benefits when pertaining to God but knowing that our Father covers us is a feeling second to none. He has control over our lives. He protects us from the storm. He gives in a way no one here on earth, heaven or hell would ever be able to now and in the future. This is the God we serve.

In this moment of certainty in our Father, let us also remember,  “I am my Father's child.” I can no longer think of just myself and my desires. To be the Father’s child also comes with a sense of duty to Him and His people. Our Father has left clear instructions in His word to act and speak in accordance to His word. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) Our light is not to shine to show others how bright we are but to bring attention to the God we know. The distinguishing features of God’s children are not physical, they are spiritual. We are supposed to be known by our good fruits. (Check out the previous month’s newsletter as we discussed this topic)  Let’s take a moment to ask ourselves if someone were to read our thoughts, search our hearts and look at our behavior could they see who we belong to? The great thing about introspection is God gives us the opportunity to be better when we are lacking in some areas.

“I am Father’s child” allows us to experience a sense of direction. We cannot be moved to and fro with the world when we understand that heaven is our home. Making heaven is the ultimate goal of God’s children. Knowing the direction we are to travel keeps us from being led astray into detrimental avenues. We cannot participate in certain activities, experience certain things and live a particular way because we know that we are on a forward mission to heaven. The enemy will make the world enticing but knowing I am a child of the Most High God shall sustain me until Jesus returns. As we take each step forward let’s keep our determination clear. We are too close to the end to lose our sense of selves.

Let us leave you with a prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the reader and their heart for You. We are in awe everyday of just how good You are to Your children. Thank You, Father, for giving a sense of belonging to those who have no other parent and Thank You for blessing us with siblings of all nationalities across the world. We ask that You continue to bring us all together until You call us home. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
