The Zephaniah Movement is just a few short weeks away from kicking off our revival. The revival is from October 9-13 and we can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us. During our last revival we got to witness lives being changed and chains being broken (you can check out our newsletter here about it!) This time around our theme is Chosen. In these trying times and chaotic world, it is important for us to know where we belong and who we belong to.
“You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, ‘You are My Servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away.’”- Isaiah 41:9
If you were to take a moment and consider who you are, there may be many adjectives that come to mind: smart, athletic, nice, funny, etc. However, for the child of God, one of the most honored descriptives we can attach to ourselves is chosen. The world can call you many names and disregard you but our Father in heaven has chosen you. No special gifts needed and no assembly required when it comes to being one of God’s chosen.
To be chosen means one who is the object of choice or of divine favor: an elect person. It’s imperative that you understand that when you feel the Lord tugging at your heart He is not waiting for you to get yourself together. God will take you in your current state. He can dust you off and clean you up all you have to do is come to Him. You were not chosen because of what you can bring to the table but you were chosen so He can do great things through you. David was the smallest of his siblings, Moses had a speech impediment, Esther considered herself powerless, Abraham was considered old and Paul had a sinful past. However, God chose each one to do great things to further the Kingdom of God and God has chosen you to do great things as well.
Jeremiah 29:11 says that the Lord’s thoughts toward us are to give us peace, a future and hope. And the only way we can obtain this is if we ourselves choose to follow Christ. In our previous newsletter (here) we discussed choosing to have faith and that sentiment still stands: we must choose to have faith in our Father. We also want to encourage you because not everyone will understand your choice in choosing to follow God and that is OK! We can’t choose our earthly parents but we have the privilege to choose our Heavenly Father. We have the honor to choose whom we will serve. And we have the right heart in whom we give our life to.
As you make your calling and election sure, just remember that you are not alone in it. Whether you are around the corner or many countries away, your Zephaniah Family here in Oklahoma City see you and are with you all the way as you run for Christ. We choose to love you as you are and we look forward to your growth in God. If you are struggling with your choice we encourage you to choose God sooner rather than later. We don’t know how much time we have left on earth. We must spend our time walking and living right before God.
Heavenly Father, We thank you for You choosing us! What a blessing to be counted in the number. We are thankful that the one and only true living God desires to keep us. You are amazing and we humble ourselves before You. We ask that You bless our reader. Restore Your connection with them and draw them closer. Give them the mindset to want to dive deeper into their faith and have mercy on them, Father. We are forever Your servants. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Wonderful newsletter! A great way to draw our minds into the thought of who we are.
